Gordon ICE Release Path
Gordon County Sheriff's Office publishes a Georgia Criminal Alien Quarterly Report link and a county report under the Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act. Those facts support careful coverage of immigration inquiries and detainers. They do not prove that the county jail operates for ICE or houses the general ICE detainee population.
When the county releases someone to ICE, two events exist. Gordon County criminal custody ends, and a separate federal civil custody event may begin or continue. The jail record can show a local release, hold, or transfer. The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is then the public follow-up for ICE custody status.
| Question | Correct source |
|---|---|
| Did local jail custody end? | Gordon County release/transfer record |
| Was another agency involved? | Jail staff and public transfer notation |
| Is the person in ICE custody? | ICE Online Detainee Locator |
| Why did the criminal case end? | Gordon County court record |
Confirm Gordon ICE Transfer
First confirm the local event. Search Gordon County Offender Index for current custody and booking context. The roster does not expose a durable public release date or history field. A missing current record therefore does not answer whether the person entered ICE custody.
- Check the Gordon County current roster and booking-date view for the local booking.
- Call the Jail Division at 706-629-1246 and ask whether the local event was release, transfer, or a hold involving another agency.
- Request the county booking/release record when a written local event is needed.
- If ICE is identified, open ODLS and search with the A-number and country of birth when known, or use the available biographical method.
- Compare the result carefully. A failed match is not proof of release.
- Use the responsible immigration or legal channel for details that the locator does not provide.
ICE Locator Search Fields
An A-number is the identifying number used in many immigration records. When it is known, pairing it with country of birth is the strongest route described by the research. ODLS may also allow a biographical search. Names should be entered as they appear in immigration records, and variant spellings can matter.
Search results must be read as ICE custody information, not as a criminal case record. The locator may not explain the Gordon County charges, the local release reason, the bond set by a county judge, or the full immigration case history. Those facts belong to other custodians.
- A-number
- An immigration identification number used to search many ICE detainee records.
- Detainer
- An immigration custody request or notice that may affect what happens when local criminal custody ends.
- Transfer
- A move from one custodian to another, not release into the community.
- Civil immigration custody
- ICE detention under immigration authority, distinct from a county criminal sentence or BOP prison term.
Gordon ICE Records Contact
The local Jail Division handles questions about jail operation, inmates, releases, bonds, and booking records. Ask it only for the Gordon County event. A focused written request can seek the booking/release sheet, local release date and time, release type, and receiving agency if those fields are public. Captain Chuck Kirby is identified by the sheriff as Custodian of Records.

Georgia's Open Records Act governs access to qualifying county records. It does not turn ICE records into county records. Send a federal immigration record question to the proper federal custodian rather than expecting county jail staff to explain the later ICE process.
ICE Locator Source Evidence
The successful federal-custody manifest image comes from the BOP locator, which is appropriate only for the separate BOP page. No successful ICE-specific screenshot appears in the manifest. This ICE page is therefore intentionally text-only rather than borrowing the BOP image or using the failed quarterly-report capture.
The official live source remains ICE ODLS. Following the manifest rules preserves an important distinction: a federal criminal locator image cannot stand in for civil immigration custody.
Gordon Jail Is Not ICE
The facility map is explicit. Gordon County Jail is the local adult detention facility operated by the Sheriff's Office. ICE ODLS is a nationwide custody channel, not a physical Gordon County facility. The sheriff's quarterly reporting is evidence of a reporting duty and possible immigration-status or detainer interaction, not evidence of an ICE detention contract or ICE jail designation.
This distinction matters when asking where a person went. County staff may say that local custody ended or another agency received the person. That statement does not establish the final immigration destination or later release date. ODLS and the responsible federal office must carry the inquiry forward.
| System | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Gordon County Jail | Local criminal booking and custody exit |
| ICE ODLS | Publicly available ICE detainee status |
| BOP locator | Federal criminal prison status or release |
| GDC query | Georgia state corrections status |
ICE Release Result Limits
A locator result can change as records and custody change. It may not provide the legal reason for release, the immigration court outcome, a complete transfer trail, or the exact event a family expects. A no-match result has several possible explanations, including data-entry variation or a custody stage not returned through the public search. It should not be presented as certified proof that someone is free.
When ODLS shows custody information, compare identity details and then contact the appropriate official channel for the next step. When it does not, return to the county transfer record and any lawyer or agency contact already tied to the case. Do not substitute VINE, the Georgia parole database, or the county's recent-booking tabs for ICE status.
ICE BOP Custody Difference
ICE civil detention and BOP criminal imprisonment are separate. A Gordon County arrest can, in different cases, lead to a state transfer, a federal criminal hold, or immigration custody. The receiving authority decides the locator. BOP covers federal inmates from 1982 forward, while ODLS covers ICE detainee status.
If the county identifies a federal criminal transfer, use the Federal BOP release record path and federal docket. If it identifies immigration custody, use ODLS. If it identifies GDC, use the Georgia offender query. The Gordon County release search supplies the full custody map.
Gordon ICE Court Records
The Gordon County court record explains the local criminal side. Magistrate Court handles first appearance and bond setting. Superior Court records can explain a felony disposition or order. Calhoun Municipal Court covers certain city matters. None of those courts supplies the ICE locator result.
Pairing the two records produces a clearer timeline: local booking, local court authority, county custody exit, possible transfer, and later federal custody status. Avoid collapsing the timeline into a claim that the county released the person directly into the community.
Gordon ICE Reporting Angle
Research Section 19 requires the county's distinctive immigration-reporting angle to stand alone. The sheriff's report link and 2024 Gordon County PDF show that immigration-status and detainer reporting exist in the local record environment. The corresponding manifest screenshot failed because the source began a download, so it is not embedded.
The supported conclusion is narrow: an ICE-related hold or transfer can complicate a Gordon County release. The unsupported conclusion would be that Gordon County Jail is an ICE facility. All page language preserves that boundary.
